Betty Kay Charters

Charter Vessel Betty Kay

Charter vessel Betty Kay is a USCG  inspected vessel with passenger capacity of 47 with one captain and one crew.  The vessel is a fiberglass delta hull design with twin John Deer 300 horsepower diesel engines.  The Betty Kay’s length is 50 feet and is 35 gross tons, draws 6.3’ of water and has a beam of 15.2’   The Betty Kay’s operating area is between Point St. George, CA and Angeles Point, WA not to exceed 100 mils from land.

For the past 22 years the Betty Kay has operated out of Charleston, OR with Captain Bill Whitmer and Captain Kathleen Johnson.  Before this the vessel operated out of Newport, OR and Westport WA.

The delta hull design had been a standard for the charter boat industry on the west coast of the United States.  We have been very happy operating the Betty Kay and know our customers will have a safe, comfortable, fun and adventurous journey fishing the waters off Charleston/Coos Bay, Or.

Charter Vessel Shamrock

Charter vessel Shamrock is a USCG inspected vessel with passenger capacity of  21 with one captain and one crew.  The vessel is a wood Youngquist hull design with John Deer 220 horse power diesel engines.  The Shamrock length is 47 feet and is 22 gross tons, draws 5.7’ of water and has a beam of 14.0’   The Shamrock’s operating area is between Point St. George, CA and Angeles Point, WA not to exceed 100 miles from land.

For the last six years the Shamrock has fished out of Charleston, Or.   During the 200 year Lew and Clark celebrations, the Shamrock was extensively remodeled with a new cabin and wheel house for passenger tours along the Columbia river, retracing the Lewis and Clark Expedition.  The Shamrock fished out the Ilwaco, WA for two years before being operated by Betty Kay Charters.  The Shamrock has a wonderful history also of being the “high liner” sport salmon charter boat out of Astoria, Or.

Captain Bill Whitmer and Captain Kurt Smith are operating the Shamrock for ocean rock fishing, summer salmon and off shore tuna fishing.  They are very happy with the Shamrock as a comfortable, sea worthy vessel for passengers.  You will be very happy with great catches fishing on the Shamrock!

The captains and deck hands are very helpful and friendly  and want to ensure you have a great experience fishing with Betty Kay Charters!
